Sundays have recently become a day of adventure for my friend and I.

More so now that it is winter and sundays haven’t been reserved as much for a day of recovery.

Today we decided to go and check out Marysville and the snow on Lake Mountain.

So we rugged ourselves up and headed off to the hills with a lovely picnic.

Lake Mountain is a short distance from Marysville which is a one and half hour drive from Melbourne.

Both of us hadn’t been there before and we were pleasantly surprised to see this beautiful little town that was bustling with people.

At first glance, you would never know that this sweet, modern looking town was a victim of the black saturday bushfires that only happened three and half years ago.

In three and half years, this town (90% of which was destroyed in 2009) has rebuilt and forged ahead.

It wasn’t until you drove into the outskirts that you could see the devastation.

A lot of the surrounding mountains were bare and black but there was so much new tree growth. The gumtrees looked so cute covered from root to tip in leafy shoots, giving them a furry look. It made us laugh!

The town will never forget but the landscape will forgive. It’s come a long way and will keep on going!

If you’re looking for something to do on a lazy sunday, go and visit these beautiful towns.

Take a picnic and a camera!

Snap some great shots while taking in the local scenery and enjoy what the town has to offer.
