This banana bread recipe is amazing!

So easy and delicious. There isn’t much sugar in it either so you can make it if you want something ‘naughty’ that’s not so ‘naughty’ 😉

Recipe courtesy of: http://www.bestrecipes.com.au

Ingredients

3 medium bananas or 2 large bananas (mashed)111

2 tbsp golden syrup

1/4 cup caster sugar

1 egg

1 cup self-raising flour

Pinch of salt

Cinnamon sugar (for dusting)

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees or 160 degrees fan-forced.

In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas and golden syrup.

Add caster sugar and mix well.

Mix in the egg and flour until just combined then pour into a greased and lined bread tin. *You can add something extra to the mix if you like. I added choc chips 🙂

Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the batter.

Bake for 30-40 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.

Allow to cool and serve!

I like to add half a packet of milk chocolate chips to my bread but you could also add chopped walnuts or maybe saltanas? You can add anything you like really.

This tip was given to me by one of the sales assistants at Michael Hill Jeweller.

It’s brilliant!

I cleaned yellow gold, white gold, silver, Tiffany and Co. jewellery, Swarovski jewellery, diamonds, sapphires and amethyst.

I wouldn’t recommend this for cheap silver jewellery.

The before and after picture is below. It’s hard to capture it well but now this ring is sparkling like it’s brand new.

I wish I took a photo of my swarovski crystal ring before and after because it came up beautifully.

For those of you who don’t know, I love Japan.

When I was over there I ate many things but okonomiyaki was not one of them.

In fact, until recently, I didn’t even know  that this delicious dish was called okonomiyaki! I always called it a Japanese fried pancake.

To be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of them because I haven’t had many nice ones.

Not long ago, I was driving around the city for work and finally managed to find a carpark to grab some lunch.

The closest restaurant was Shuji Sushi (bit of a tongue twister).
I looked through the display and grabbed a menu. Nothing appealed! I was hungry and getting cranky so I said to the man “ok… I’ll just have a pancake please”.

Back at my table, I took a bite into a slice. I was delicious! Such a satisfying surprise. For a franchise restaurant I was amazed at how good it was!

I Googled Japanese fried pancakes after lunch and found out that they’re called okonomiyaki!

I had discussed them with my Japanese tutor but never bothered to remember the name.

A couple of nights later, I was cooking up some San Remo ravioli and it started to look very unappetising.

Thoughts of my delicious okonokiyaki started pouring into my mind.

I pulled out my local Japanese takeaway menu and it was on the list! So I ordered okonomiyaki and a miso soup.

The ravioli went down the grinder 😛 No great loss.

I brought my miso soup and okonomiyaki home. The pancake was as large as a plate! I barely finished it all. But wow… It was the best i’d ever eaten! 😀

It was that moment I decided I must make this amazing dish.

So I did!

Every recipe is different. This is a veggie one.

You can put strips of bacon on top or add some diced prawns and pork. Up to you!

Marine-debris...

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!

So interesting to know how long these everyday items take to decompose… in the sea 😦
